Inner rear guard thingys?

Not sure of the correct term for this panel. It sits in between the inner guard and the outer guard to the rear of the front guard. Well whatever it is, it's had better days! This is the repair on the bottom corner.A piece of metal with a couple of snips to help it go around the corners and some random pop rivets.
After cleaning it all up. Below is all I was left with.

Now i need to get out the hammers and make a couple of decent rust repair sections. Will let you know when I've got them made.

The sheds cold . . . . Works getting me home later at night. . . . We have a new ignition barrel. . . . Should sort out a few Gremlins!
And yes. . . . That's the beautiful paint job on the bonnet behind the keys!

More fun with the sandblaster

What lurks beneath the paint

I started sanding back the paint along the sharp edge of the guard because it had worn through and started to rust. After digging through the newly found bog I found a pretty serious piece of damage. Fortunately the person who used the 4 cans of bog didn't do much with the damaged sheet metal.
I sanded the bog off around the damage and got stuck into it with the hammers and dollies.
Below is the nearly finished guard. I just have to weld the split up now that the metals in the right place.
